What I Learned From Watching Some C76 Trailers

Last night, I came across some recordings of trailers being shown at Rondo Robe’s Comiket 76 booth made by YouTube user wx7047. I was going to embed them but then I saw pKjd had most of them all in one place so you can watch those over there. There are a few he hasn’t embedded yet so I’ll put those two up front and my comments about the others after those.

Mamoru Oshii’s live-action Assault Girls has a giant CG ground monster being shot at and there are characters named Gray, Lucifer, and Colonel. Supposedly its release date is December 19th and those monsters are sand whales.

Mudadumo Nai Kaikaku (subtitle: THE LEGEND OF KOIZUMI) is getting made into an anime. [ANN story from last week]

New ADV Trailers for Pumpkin Scissors, Red Garden, NHK (Videos)

ADV released some new trailers this week for 5 Centimeters per Second (December), Pumpkin Scissors (Oct. 23 – tentative), Red Garden (Sept. 18), Welcome to the NHK (Oct. 2 – tentative), and Xenosaga (Sept. 11). They are the usual no-dialogue teasers with either the opening and ending song as music and narrative trailers with some footage that overlapped with the teasers. If I had only seen the trailers and not any episodes, I would be interested in watching Red Garden (zombie hit by a truck!), kind of like to see Pumpkin Scissors (“In a country ravaged by war…”), and not care for Welcome to the NHK (“porn” is said three times…) and Xenosaga (never played the games). I don’t believe that Red Garden is the “most anticipated horror thriller of the year”, though. Videos after the jump.

PaniPoni Dub Trailer; ADV Website Fun Facts

I was kicking around ifilm’s new beta site and found a trailer of PPD on there. It features dubbed voices of most of the main characters (“Becky, Himeko, et al.) and it was uploaded by ADVONLINE so it’s most likely official. It also introduces the characters similar to how the press release for the dub does (e.g. Rei is “The Heather”, Himeko “The Spaz”). This method continues for good effect up until the narrator reaches Kamineko, “the cat who lives in the soda machine who says he’s God”. Read the rest of this entry »
