The first DVD volume of Lucky Star shipped yesterday (the earliest I expect to get my copy is the 15th) and I figured this would be a good time to kick off an experimental, new feature for the blog. I’m calling it “Reading Out Loud” because that’s basically what the posts will be about: myself reading print articles, columns and reviews out loud with dramatic emphasis when appropriate.
Lucky Star v. 1 made the List for June’s issue of PiQ magazine and Paul Starr wrote the review. The main opinion was that it’s fine for what it is I think it’s interesting that he also wrote the “inside peek” preview for the May issue but that might have been because writing multiple anime and Asian film reviews and preview is part of an associate editor’s job.
Anyway, below is the first episode of Reading Out Loud. Please leave feedback about the audio quality – I used a USB headset and Audacity so I tried to make it sound good – and if you would like this series to continue.

If you like what Mr. Starr wrote, please support the magazine it was published in or at least look it over at your local newsstand. My main intent of starting this feature series is to highlight relevant and interesting writings and bring a greater awareness to the publications that printed them, not to maliciously break copyright or damage any of the subjects financially.

an EPIC reading, of an EPIC article….
It sounded fine to me, except that I had to turn the volume down for the opening music then turn it bak up when it finished and you started your reading; which was good.
anonymous: It wasn’t that great, I simply read with some emotion and emphasis. Side note: I think “EPIC”, along with and in combination with “FAIL”, is being used too liberally these days.
Roy: Okay, I lowered the gain on the first musical interlude and uploaded the file again. Usually I doublecheck that but I was in a bit of a hurry to publish the post.
LOL. not really understand what does it mean and work…
Thanks for reading my review — it was pretty cool hearing somebody else reading something I wrote. I’m genuinely flattered, and hope you continue to enjoy the magazine. :-)
