This Week in Akiba: 11.04.2007

It’s been a while (about nine months) since I’ve composed a This Week in Akiba post, probably because I check out each entry that week and from Oct 29th to Nov 4th, there were about forty-seven. I picked out nine that I thought were interesting enough to share with you.

Churuya-san 3 hit the top of the doujinshi charts. I was a little surprised to find out that Utsura Uraraka was still drawing these.

The PS2 version of School Days, School Days LxH, was advertised with girl-on-girl shower breast squeezing and a one-word description: “erotic”. There was another poster for the game that replaced “Nice Boat” with “Nice bath!” According to Amazon.co.jp, it’s slated to be released on January 17th.

A guidebook for musical doujin group Ongaku features a cover that reminds me of the Lain DVD covers.

AkibaBlog reported some of its site stats for the month of October: 20 million page views, 4.26 TB of bandwidth, and 1.38 million unique visitors according to Google Analytics.

Cans of Final Fantasy 7 potion hit the shelves at the price of 200 yen with sixteen different designs from Advent Children.

Purchasers of the limited edition of Kodomo no Jikan DVD 1, which comes out on December 21st, will receive a red knapsack that I’m guessing will act as the DVD box.

A couple low angle camerapeople were spotted at an promotional street event, one of whom was wearing a hat bearing the phrase “Your Beauty Is Like A Plague”.

A PVC figure of Kyon’s sister in a bunny girl suit – something that seems wrong to me in some way. I guess I’m just not in the target audience for that product.

Finally, there was a lightly clothed Halloween Girl figure for just under 8000 yen that looked ready to play Trick or Treat.
