That’s right, I’m bringing back “This Week in Akiba” and this edition covers stuff from February 5th to the 11th.

First off, cake boxes were spotted featuring a caricature of failed prime minister candidate Taro Aso, Rozen Maiden characters, and the Engrish sentence “It is a sponge cake that used fresh milk and the egg enough”.

Professional amateur cosplayer Aoi Touka handed out flyers as “combat waitress” Mikuru outside Honey Egg to promote special deals on photography studio rentals.

The second volume of Fujiwara Hiro’s “Kaichou wa Maid-sama!” (The President is a Maid!) came out on Tuesday. Emily’s Random Shoujo Manga Blog has a review of the first volume and the story seems interesting, with a tough-acting student council president having to keep her part-time maid cafe job a secret.

This cover of this doujin scared me at first. Actually it still scares me…let’s move on.

Asobit City posted an Eroge warning sign in front of that particular section of their store…

… and also decorated their “Haruhi Corner” with a special pencil board. Seen above, it features Haruhi and Mikuru playfully wearing glasses to match Yuki and says “not for sale” on it but five instances of it are being sold on Yahoo! Auctions Japan for between 20,000 (~US$165) and 30,000 yen (~US$247)!

The “Moe Military” explained soldiers’ equipment in a new visual guide.

The third volume of “Kodomo no Jikan” (A Forbidden Time) also came out this week in Japan. The first volume of this series will be released in the US under the name Nymphet by Seven Seas in April.

AKIBAS BACK :D
Thanks for the great current insights on the Electric Town’s streets-yo~
3rd pic about “Kaichou wa Maid-sama” interests me. Gotta find out more about that.
4th pic scares me. Reminds me too much of Hokuto no Ken.
